Four decades of passion, flavour, and lakeside warmth
In 1982, a hospitality legacy was born in the heart of West Kochi with the establishment of Haco Restaurant by the visionary V. N. Hariharan. Driven by his passion for exceptional food and genuine hospitality, Haco quickly became a beloved destination for food lovers, earning a special place in the hearts of generations of guests.
As the years passed, the legacy grew beyond a restaurant, evolving into a destination where Kerala’s rich coastal flavors met the tranquil beauty of the waterfront. Guided by the blessings and enduring values of its founder, the second generation embarked on a new chapter with the launch of Vallam—meaning “boat” in Malayalam.Inspired by the lake, the fishermen, and the vibrant local community that shaped its identity, Vallam seamlessly blends cherished traditions with contemporary excellence.
Today, it proudly carries forward the spirit of Haco, offering authentic flavors, warm hospitality, and memorable dining experiences while honoring Kerala’s rich coastal heritage.
"Vallam"
Malayalam · Boat
Named for the boats that have plied these backwaters for centuries, carrying the catch that defines our cuisine
V.N. Hariharan established Haco Restaurant in Palluruthy, West Kochi, with a simple vision: to serve fresh, authentic food rooted in Kerala's rich culinary traditions.
As its reputation grew, the restaurant expanded with signature Kerala specialties that attracted and delighted a vast number of guests from Palluruthy and beyond.
Driven by growing demand and a passion for quality food, the restaurant expanded across West Kochi with new branches.
With a vision to create a place where people could relax, connect, and enjoy nature's beauty — along with the addition of a banquet hall for memorable gatherings and celebrations.
Dedicated private dining pavilions were introduced, transforming Vallam into a preferred destination for family gatherings, celebrations, and special occasions by the lakeside.
The restaurant embraced the spirit of Kumbalangi's backwaters, adopting the name Vallam — a tribute to its boats, waterways, and rich tradition of authentic Kerala seafood.
Every ingredient is sourced locally — fish from the lake, vegetables from nearby farms. Nothing is frozen; everything is prepared the morning you visit.
